Bio.
I am a visual artist and enjoy working with color, light, and the sentimental feelings that these subjects invoke.
I was born in Ithaca, New York and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
I attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design where I graduated from in 2010. I work primarily in Encaustic and oil painting, but I also work with book arts, wearable art, and do creative writing. I am proficient with wax mediums, guache, and egg tempera. I have some experience in photography and graphic design as well.
My work varies in subject matter involving the figure and working with the content around them, including the relationships we have with other people and with animals.
I work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I live with my amazing husband,
our two dogs and two cats in our Riverwest home.
I also volunteered with the Girl Scouts of SE Wisconsin from 2006-2022, and with the Riverwest community whenever I can, the latest adventure being with the amazing Riverwest24, a community based 24 hour bike race.
I am of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, I am a vegetarian, and I love cooking with my husband while the dogs eat things I drop on the floor. There are so many things that I am, and I define myself differently every day.
Unrelatedly/ relatedly, I am the general manager of the County Clare, Irish Pub and Inn where I also manage the marketing doing everything from menus to websites.
I truly love my job and the people I work with and for.
They are my secondary family, always and forever.
I am proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign and am trying to figure out Light Room with my DSLR in hand. I also have a Cricut machine that I use to explore what my work can do beyond the basics of what I learned so many years ago. There are so many things every day that change the way that we make art and make it more accessible to those around us, and it has always been exciting to see where it takes us next.
I love learning new skills and am constantly finding new ways for technology and paint to express what I have to say.
I would also like to add that in the complication that is life, we have been dealing with quite a bit of medical everything in my family. That being said, a lot of my personal writing has been put into this blog, which may switch to the other blog, but no one ever knows how these things pan out.
